Pit Bulls are great family dogs!

I love my dog! I should say our families dog, but really it's mine. He's been with me before my husband and before my daughter. His name is Cago... short for Chicago. Bella calls him "cabo"! It's starting to catch on!

I got Cago when I lived in Arizona. He was a rescue pet from a shelter.

He is also a PIT BULL mix. Pit Bulls get such a bad rep as fighter dogs, by people who breed them to fight. The fact is if you train any dog ( or any other living creature) to kill and fight, more then likely they will.

I was surfing online and I have found many websites against this reputation and with strong evidence too.. Pit Bulls have a strong if not obsessive need to please, I know this first hand with my experiences with Cago. He is the most loving, loyal, obedient dog I have ever had. It just saddens me when I see the media and people, who are not even educated about these dogs, make assumptions based on cases where the owners were at fault. This breed is even banned from cities.

"Dogs are products of their environment. Dangerous dogs are not born, they are created," said Adam Goldfarb, director of the pets at risk program for the Humane Society of the United States in Washington, D.C. "When you hear about a dog being set on fire or attacked by an ax, it usually involves a pit bull and it's not their fault. In some communities, there is a perception that pit bulls have less worth than other dogs," Goldfarb said.

Just when you feel like you got this mommy thing down

I'm waiting for the ball to drop. Do you ever have those moments when you think "I'm a good Mom, I've got this down!"? Many of us have felt that proud moment when you don't feel like you are doing everything wrong for once. Just as you start to feel amazing something happens, an accident, a massive tantrum that can't be controlled, a mommy monster moment...

Well, lately I feel on top of it. My Bella and I have been getting along very nicely. Although, she doesn't always listen we seem to have a better understanding of one another. My patience really hasn't been tested in a couple of days. Usually she is doing everything in her power to destroy the house. Rarely does she listen at all, and finds joy in doing the exact opposite of what I ask, typical toddler.

I'm waiting for it. That moment that is going to break this great winning streak...

A little Inspiration: The Invisible Women

A recycled video I have used before, but worth a second look. Sometimes we need a reminder.

I wish I had a farm...

I wish I could live on a farm. One with chickens, cows and horses too! Maybe some sheep. I'd have a large field where the animals could graze. My land would back up to never ending forest, filled with streams and waterfalls over rock walls.

I would have a special barn for all my animals and up top would be a secret hide away for the kids to play. We would have fresh eggs and milk every day.

I would grow an array of vegetables, and on Sundays I would exhibit them at the farmers market.

I also would have a special green house, just to myself. It would be massive, like the size of the one at Lincoln Park Zoo. There would be two sections, the first would look like a magical secret garden, where thousands of butterfly's would flutter. The second would be filled with exotic plants and orchids. There would be a waterfall too. I would house different birds here, such as parrots. Maybe even a few small monkeys could run wild too!

It would be my special wonderland, I would never have to leave.
